• FLORENCE • ROME

    Sunday 30 – Tuesday 03 April 2025

As exam season approaches and tensions rise around Easter, a constructive break can be incredibly beneficial. AHA runs an A Level Revision Course for those studying Edexcel’s History of Art. Travelling first to Florence and then Rome, students can expect the following features and benefits.

    Features

    • A 4 day tour entirely based around the needs of students in preparation for the A Level exam
    • Small teaching group of no more than 12
    • A timetable based around the themes and case studies for individual students
    • The opportunity for individual 1:1 tuition at no extra cost
    • Experienced tutors (2) who know the rigours of the A Level syllabus
    • Entirely based on site, with discussions which are so beneficial, compared to class room lessons and reproduction images
    • Helpful notes and reading and watch lists
    • Fun quizzes to rehearse and embed knowledge
    • A report at the end of the course

    Benefits

    • Particularly for worried or weary students, such a focused break can restore enthusiasm and love for the subject
    • First hand knowledge of art and architecture makes for vivid, engaged essay writing
    • Discussions based around sample questions lead to practiced and succinct essay writing
    • A study break away from desk bound study is as good as a rest
    • Total emersion in the subject and place and the opportunity to chat about the exam over supper only adds to the value of the experience.

NB: 24 hours of study is equivalent to 6 weeks of lesson time per A Level at school. Per hour of study, AHA fees are equal to the hourly rate of a London Tutorial college Easter Revision Course, and yet this course is in Italy.

“Tom [Tom Parsons, tutor] had fitted the visits around my specific artworks from consulting with myself as to the nuances of my course as well as the ones which I found the most challenging. Tom had an immense knowledge of Florence and Rome, far beyond the confines of my course, which made a huge impression on my wider understanding and allowed me to tie up and illustrate my knowledge of each individual artwork. Undoubtedly, assisting in giving my essays a convincing standpoint and interesting argument.” – Jake, A Level Revision course, 2024

Safety: AHA has enormous experience of running summer and gap year courses for teenagers and frequently organises tours for individual schools. Owing to the workman like nature of this course, students will be back in the hotel by 11pm for a good night’s sleep and complete attendance is mandatory.

AHA organises the accommodation, transfers, teaching, museum entrance bookings in order to make the very best use of valuable time. We recommend flights and ask individuals to book them on line in order to achieve the best price (ironically, flights bought as a group are more expensive these days).
