We are running a series of live and online lectures and we do hope you will bring an aperitivo and join us for an hour before dinner. We have chosen subjects to stimulate new interests and conversation, ready for the imminent return to socializing. We invite you to join 15 minutes early to hear information on AHA’s plans for the future and there will be time for questions and answers at the end.

In celebration of our Artemisia course running alongside the Regeneration Festival in Florence at the end of August we will delve in to history of Opera.
Opera didn’t evolve gradually, it burst onto the scene. Explore, with the opera singer Tristan Hambleton, how the art form became the pinnacle of artist achievement and how it came to shape the world as we know it. Please join us for this exciting lecture, whether you are an opera aficionado or an occasional dabbler there will be appeal for all.
Tristan is not only a superb bass baritone but also an excellent art historian and taught for AHA in Italy for several years. Tristan studied at St John’s College Cambridge, Heidelberg Universität and then at the Royal Academy of Music, London. He has performed with leading orchestras including The Hallé, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, The Orchestra of the Age of Enlightenment, The Britten Sinfonia and Le Concert d’Astrée. He has worked for companies such as Glyndebourne Opera, Welsh National Opera, The Royal Opera House Covent Garden and Opéra de Lille. For more information please visit Tristan’s website.
